  • Occupational and physical therapy both fall within the rehabilitative sciences and share many similarities, however, there are distinct differences in the approach each takes with a patient's rehabilitative care. An Occupational Therapist focuses on improving the patient’s ability to perform activities of daily living or work, while a Physical Therapist focuses on improving the patient's ability to move their body.

Occupational therapy treatment is centered around adapting, modifying, or changing daily activities that a person is required or wants to do. OTs do this by altering the activity, environment, or the skills of the person and patient education.

Physical therapy treatment focuses on movement to optimize quality of life. This is done through hands-on care, prescribed exercises and patient education.
